We may never know what Better Than Ezra actually means. The three members of the iconic '90s rock band - founding member Kevin Griffin, bassist Tom Drummond and new drummer Michael Jerome - certainly aren't telling anyone either. "We have never revealed it, even under duress," says Griffin.

Many people already know the story of Better Than Ezra's rise to fame though. In 1995, when post-grunge/alternative rock was not only good but the most popular form of music in the country, Elktra Records turned a two year old album by an unknown band from Louisiana into a national sensation. Unable to produce a record that sold quite as well as their debut though, BTE eventually parted ways with Elektra, jumped to a couple of different indie labels and eventually released their best album to date, 2001's Closer. Next week the band will unveil their 7th full length album and their first on the independent Megaforce Records, Paper Empire (you can check out the album artwork for Empire above).

The first single off of Paper Empire, "Absolutely Still" is already getting some air play on rock radio stations. The song is a tight, crisp pop tune driven by the terrific vocals of Griffin.
