stvincentAnother batch of recent music videos to check out, including the latest from Animal Collective and the new Dinosaur Jr. video of “Over It” from their upcoming Farm LP. In addition to those two, you can also check out stuff from Sonic Youth, Fever Ray, St. Vincent and Kasabian. Plus, there’s a new feature to Music Video Corner: a classic video tagging along at the end. This time: Britpop. Check them out after the break.

Fever Ray – “When I Grow Up”

Take your pick: tattered eccentric or aquaphobic zombie girl?

Animal Collective – “Summertime Clothes”

Dinosaur Jr. – “Over It”

Is that really J Mascis doing all the skateboard stunts or just a younger guy in a long, grey wig? If so, I’m impressed considering his age. And speaking of the long, grey hair—love it, J.

St. Vincent – “Actor out of Work”

Sonic Youth – “Sacred Trickster”

The track ends a little too abruptly for my taste, but it’s hard to thumb a nose at an on-the-fly-styled Sonic Youth video.

Kasabian – “Vlad the Impaler”

Oh, that stab-crazy fool. Am I reaching, or is this a reference to Manos: The Hands of Fate (or, in translation, Hands: The Hands of Fate)? The mustachioed gent and his red-lined cloak opening wide towards the end points that way in my mind.

And the classic:

Blur – “Coffee + TV”

It never got heavy rotation, but I instantly loved this clip when it first appeared at the end of the 90s; it’s creative, funny, sad and just plain cool. That little milk carton walk should have inspired a dance craze—those are wicked moves.
