The World is Ending... Somebody Call Adam Lambert!

In case you haven't seen it, here's the new music video from American Idol Adam Lambert (well, actually, he lost... So do we call him American Consolation Prize?). The song is called "Time for Miracles," and it's the official anthem to the upcoming disaster flick 2012.

Yeah, I laughed really long and hard watching this. The song itself is... questionable, but not bad enough to trash or really pay attention to. It's the generic wailing power ballad with ambitions of wringing some hearts. What else is new? Aerosmith did this schtick 10 years ago for another big budget end-of-the-world flick.

Nay, the real awfulness lies in the video itself, which has apocalyptic crowd scenes that look like it's shot around the corner with about a dozen extras and some orange filters. There's just something hilarious about Lambert's performance in the video, showing total conviction in what he's singing about, being coupled with random shots of 2012's gratuitous disaster porn. You get the feeling that some rowdy skate punk tune should be accompanying all the already-comical tidal waves and falling buildings, not some high-pitched anguished soul man. Yet here it is.

2012 comes out in theaters November 13. Meanwhile, the soundtrack is already available for pre-order on Amazon.
