Frankie J - The One Review

Frankie J was born in Mexico and raised in San Diego, California. You might know him for his singles such as \"Don\'t Wanna Try\" off of his album \"What\'s a Man to do\". His latest single is \"Obsession\" featuring Baby Bash who has also just put out his album. I never really listened to Frankie J to much except when I\'d hear him on the radio. I never have gone out to pick up his CDs except for this one.

Well I finally decided to grab this CD after hearing a few songs from a friend of mine. At first he was someone I thought was just going to be a one hit wonder and then fall off but after listening to this CD you\'ll know that if he keeps putting out albums like this one he\'s going to be up there with a lot of the other great RnB artists.

The beats he used weren\'t something you\'d find that say, Babyface would use. They\'re more pop, kind of like the beats you hear 112 use in a lot of their songs. It went perfect with this CD too. He has a few features on here, not too many though. There\'s Paul Wall, Baby Bash and 3LW. That\'s pretty much it not a lot but there\'s no need to have a lot of features and it shows me that he can put out albums without needing other artists to make him sound better than he really is.

Story of my Life is my favorite song on this album. It\'s a very simple beat, just snapping and an acoustic guitar and a great hook. Something to listen to when you\'re in a mellow mood.

There\'s nothing really wrong with this CD but there\'s a few tracks I didn\'t listen to. In example, the \"Obsession\" Spanish version, this might appeal to some audiences but it\'s nothing I like but the English version is on the CD as well so its okay. I also didn\'t like the last track which is \"Obsession\" but a reggae mix. I could have really done without that.

Other than that I\'d say it was a good album, I gave it a 8.5 out of 10. You should really listen to this. If you\'re more into the RnB like Babyface puts out with those real RnB beats that put you into depress mode than you might not care for this but if you like the pop style beats then you\'ll like this

"The One" is on sale March 22, 2005 from Columbia.
