Angelina Jolie (Mrs. Smith) & Brad Pitt (Mr. Smith) duke it out in the action adventure comedy. What to do, what to do... Two of America's hottest stars fighting it out to the death? Sounds like Christmas.
Well, maybe not exactly Christmas, but you get the idea. It doesn't take long to figure out why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie where picked for their roles. If one follows the Hollywood tabloids just a little bit, it almost seems like it was some kind of evil diabolical corporate scheme to get us to go see a movie. If it was, then hats off to them, because it worked (again)!
The story line is pretty basic, what would happen if the two of the world greatest assassins got married and didn't know the others secrete identity? They would eventually find out and try to wipe out the competition. Wouldn't be much of a movie if they didn't. And I thought I had relationship problems!
The acting was about average. There really isn't much there for them to do besides look attractive and kick each others ass. They do a very good job of that. The action is broken up by some humorous moments, and yes they where pretty funny. It was a subtle dirty humor that I think most people would appreciate.
And then there was Eddie, played by Vince Vaughn. Eddie had some key moments that made the movie more then what it should be. He played an awesome side kick to Mr. Smith and after his first scene made us crave another. I wish there was more of him in the movie. Mrs. Smiths side kicks where mostly just eye candy, which wasn't a bad thing. I happen to like eye candy, especially when it's not used as a distraction.
Overall the movie was a typical Hollywood film. Entertaining, had it's moments, but wasn't a must see.
Unless your looking for a good movie you haven't seen, you could probably pass on this one. But if you happen to catch it on a movie channel then by all means, pop a squat and enjoy. It's one of those films I could see myself seeing a few times on HBO. Not one I think I would purchase on DVD.
