Blade: Trinity Review

As some of you might have seen my Jurassic Park III review, you'll note that I'm not at all a fan of sequel after sequel for movies. For example, the Alien movies seemed to grow worse after each new flick along with Friday the 13th and so on. You probably understand where I'm coming from if you agree with me. Keeping that in mind, I didn't have high expectations for this movie. It seemed to get a little hype in the media rings but not much. All of this led me to believe I was in for another two hours of my life wasted.

You at least have to see the first Blade in order to have a better understanding of this movie. I wasn't really a fan of the second Blade, but that's neither here nor there.

The movie starts of with what? Vampire killing! There was some brief conversation between Blade and Whistler. I really enjoyed Whistler's first appearance in Blade. In Blade II he was so so and in this third movie, he was terrible. Maybe that's why they killed him off quickly?

Some vampires managed to dig up and bring back to life Dracula. Before long you're able to figure out they want Dracula to destroy Blade. It's already a big hint there's going to be a nice final battle scene between these two.

Blade gets captured and I'm kind of left feeling "yeah right". He manages to slay vampires all night and day long but after being surrounded by a couple of cops he just gives up? Was Blade III taking a turn for the worst so soon? No, it wasn't! While he's being interrogated you're quickly reminded of 'familiars'. Humans that act as puppets for Vampires. What's Blade to do now? He's been captured by familiars and Vampires. Enter the Nightstalkers! They probably should have thought of a different name to use, since that name is already infamously taken by a real life serial killer.

Enter Jessica Biel as Abigail Whistler. Yep, she's Whistler's daughter and boy is she ever HOT in this movie. Has to be those low rise jeans with that little tattoo sticking out. I digress. She's partnered up with Ryan Reynolds who plays Hannibal King. Both Abigial and Hannibal have set up a network of underground sleeper cells which work together to fight and destroy Vampires.

Abigail and Hannibal bring a numerous amount of new weaponry to Blade III which I thought was a really nice touch. Not the same old stuff, but pretty unique things like arrows that emit UV light at the end, a UV type arch, UV bullets and so on. It sure would have been nice to see more of these things put to use in the movie though. It just seemed like they showed you them maybe once or twice in use and that was it.

The movie continues and before long, Blade and Dracula encounter one another. It's a good scene in which you can see each character has the same abilities.

The Nightstalkers have genetically engineered a virus that kills all Vampires. The problem is they need to get it mixed with Dracula's blood because his blood is pure and hasn't mutated over the ages like the current Vampire's blood has. The Nightstalkers' hideout location gets revealed by the Vampires and only two of them are left. Abigail and Hannibal. Hannibal himself ends up getting captured by the Vampires.

As the movie winds up for its finish, we have our raid on a Vampire headquarters and of course some pretty intense fighting scenes. The biggest one includes Blade and Dracula. I'll let you watch the movie in order to see what actually happens.

I was really impressed by the camera and special effects in this movie. It really brought the movie together as a whole.

I thought all the actors and actresses did a very good job in their individual roles. Wesley Snipes didn't change from his cold demeanor which works perfect for the Blade character. Abigail was a pleasure to watch when she was fighting and her character worked well with Hannibal. Hannibal for me was a welcome addition to the Blade saga. I loved his witty sense of humor and it was nice to have a couple of laughs in this movie.

Overall, if you liked the original Blade you'll definitely want to see this. Got a nice sound system and big TV to watch this on? Even better. If you already own the other Blade movies, then you'll definitely have to add this to your collection.
