Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy Review

This was a movie recommended to me by family and friends to be a funny movie. I guess everyone has a different sense of humor, because I found myself trying to stay awake for the entire 1 hour and 30 minutes this movie played.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is about San Diego's top anchorman in the 1970s. The movie stars Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy and co-starred by Christina Applegate as Veronica Corningstone.

The movie starts off with Ron Burgundy's career on fire and all of San Diego loving him and his news casts. Ron is supported by his "news team" that helps in reporting the news. Before long, Veronica Corningstone comes along with aspirations of become the next prime time news anchor. She first is given lowly jobs when she starts and tries proving her journalistic abilities.

Everyone on the news team is head over heals for Veronica including Ron Burgundy. Before you know it Veronica and Ron are involved in a relationship.

One small mishap for Ron Burgundy and Veronica is in the right place at the right time and get her shot at anchoring the news. All goes well for her and she's a big hit. Ron's out of the picture for awhile, but of course amazingly makes his way back to prime time news that includes Veronica and his news team.

Now as far as funny goes? There were 2-4 times throughout the entire movie where I chuckled to myself. Nothing remotely close to gut busting laughter. I thought the deleted scenes during the credits were funnier than actual scenes from the movie.

I honestly believe you saw all the funny parts of the movie in the teasers and trailers. I'm sure glad I didn't pay to see this in a movie theater.

I can't think of any movies Christina Applegate was ever good in and chalk this up to another one. She's just not a good actress. Period. Her poor performance just brought this movie farther down than what it had to be. Will Ferrell did an OK job for the character he was scripted for. Funny at times, but more often......*Yawn*.

I wouldn't even add this to your Netflix or Blockbuster que to watch. Silence of the Lambs was funnier than Anchorman.
