Sin City Review

Jessica Alba Pole dancing, Bruce Willis as a bad ass cop, and Rosario Dawson as a hooker Valkyrie. Pinch me! It's enough to make any movie buff drool in anticipation. It seems like this movie is on a scale never before seen. An all star cast, an unbelievable story, I was in awe the first time I saw the trailer. How could they pull something like this off? How did they ever get a project like this green lighted?

Thank you Spider-Man! Sin City is based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller. Graphic novel, such an eloquent way to say comic book isn't it? With the unbelievable success of movies like X-Men and Spider-Man, Hollywood has been purchasing the movie rights to all kinds of comic books. Bringing us such films as Punisher, Elektra, and Hulk. Ick! I would think they would have learned their lesson from Spawn. How could they possibly turn Sin City into a movie?

If you're like me, you never knew the Graphic Novels of Sin City existed until the movie. I have yet to see a physical copy, but after seeing the movie I don't think I have to. I've read comic books since early childhood. The movie looks like a live comic book. Black and white, with color only used for focus. The way the blood splatters, the over the top writing, the drawing. Yes, the drawing. It's like watching moving art work. Instead of reading what the characters are thinking you hear them narrate it. No bubbles blocking the view, you can see them really speak to each other. Living Drawings.

I've never seen a movie done like this before. They took the comic book and made it seem real. A live action comic book. Unreal. To top things off, Quentin Tarantino guest directs the film, probably because of the Pulp Fiction-like story telling. They wanted to make sure to get it right, to cross all the t's and dot the i's. The movie ends the same way it begins, and every story twists together like the characters are sharing one great big nightmare. All I can think of at this point is 'wow'.

Just wow! I'm afraid to say to much, to over hype this film. I can see this becoming one of the best cult classics ever, which is sad. A lot of people just might not get it. Not understand. Sin City might get burned by how good, and how true to it's roots it really is. They did everything they could to not let that happen, now only time will tell. People should watch the film to form their own opinion, because there isn't anything to compare it to. Hell, they should see it for no other reason then to understand what's going on when someone sounds off a quote.

Little girl lives, old man dies, fair trade, uh, classic. This could be one of the most quotable movies in recent history. It's not something that can be told, you have to experience it to believe it. This is a must see in the theater. Unless there is a theater quality room in your home, a lot will be lost by waiting. If there is any interest in seeing this film, go! Be warned, it's not a date movie. Yes there is something in the movie for everyone, even love stories. Walk down the right back alley in Sin City, and you can find anything...just remember the odds are you'll be to focused on the movie to even care about the date. This is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. I just fear that copy cats will ruin it for everyone.
