Sometimes a movie comes along that rises above others. It hits all the right notes and earns itself a very special place in the film world. Unfortunately, Blood Out is not one of these movies. This action/thriller is of very poor quality. The acting, direction and writing are all subpar. It’s almost embarrassing how bad this movie is.
Meet Michael Savion (Luke Goss), a tough small town sheriff whose methods, while harsh, get the job done. He has a younger brother, David (Ryan Donowho) who is a member of a gang. When David gets his girlfriend pregnant, he decides to quit his life of banging. This choice however results in him getting executed by his fellow gang members. Savion then tries to investigate David’s murder but doesn’t get the cooperation he needs from big-city detectives. He then takes off his badge and becomes a vigilante infiltrating the gang world to bring David’s killers to justice.
Blood Out is a standard by-the-numbers revenge action pic. Luke Goss tries his hardest at mirroring Jason Statham and does his best Clint Eastwood impression mumbling his lines and beating the pulp out of criminals in true tough guy fashion. Supporting performances from a bloated Val Kilmer and a wooden 50 Cent add little to this dismal production. Do yourself a favor and avoid this bomb at all costs.
