“Sometimes the things we want most are the hardest to get, that means you have to be even more determined to succeed. Because that’s what it takes to be a winner. You have to want it bad enough to stick with it no matter how tough things get. Things got pretty tough for us down in Florida with…the Deadly Dolphin.”
It’s a pretty solid after-school special speech for a cartoon, and when delivered by Chuck Norris in karate garb it’s all the more inspiring. We’d be pumped if it hadn’t ended with a laughable episode title: “Deadly Dolphin”. That’s how this show goes though. Chuck Norris: Karate Commandos stars an animated version of the titular martial artist with an affinity for roundhouse kicks and his troupe of caricatures that range from standard cut-outs to ridiculous rejects from the classic G.I. Joe cartoon.
Their adventures are basic adventures that could be from any animated series, but the proceedings of this series are campily enjoyable for the sole fact that it’s Chuck Norris. Talk about a novelty cartoon. Make no mistake, this only adds to the legend of the Norris.
The series only made it 5 episodes, and they’re all here, preserved in a less than stellar condition. They include: “Deadly Dolphin”, “Target: Chuck Norris”, “Terror Train”, “Menace from Space”, and “Island of the Walking Dead”. Any of these titles would be acceptable names for Chuck Norris’s autobiography.
