N-Secure Review

Sometimes no matter what a critic says about a film really doesn’t matter, like in the case of most summer blockbusters, but sometimes a critic doesn’t have to say anything. In the case of N-Secure, the film will scare off even the least discerning viewer thanks to its utter failure in every aspect of filmmaking. The script, acting, cinematography, lighting, direction, and everything else are about as bad here as they’ll be in any theatrically released film you might ever see. That’s right, N-Secure had a theatrical debut despite being one of the worse pieces of schlock to come out of the land of cinema in a long time. At least The Room is funny.

Cordell Moore plays the overly possessive and domineering David Washington who calls off his wedding with his fiancée (Essence Atkins) after he finds her in the arms of her friend’s fiancé (Lamman Rucker). He quickly moves on to a new woman (Denise Boutte) where his psychotic routine of control repeats until he goes too far and she rebels.

Each characterization is pushed to an extreme by a cast of surprisingly awful actors (especially Moore whose every line ruins the film a little bit more). The scripting, direction, camera work, and lighting feel like they’ve been ripped from one of the worst soap operas ever conceived and there’s just no saving the mess by the time it hits the half-hour mark, and it only gets worse from there.

And what about the name? “N-Secure”? What does that even mean? If it’s a play on “insecure” what does the “n” stand for? Is it just a meaningless substitution because they can? Nothing went right here and the title actually gives that away.

DVD Bonus Features

A behind the scenes featurette only further embarrasses the cast and crew, because it’s painfully obvious even as they film how poor the film is going to be.
