Good Night, Gorilla Review

Good Night, Gorilla is the latest collection of animated read-along stories in Scholastic’s highly successful Storybook Treasures DVD series. This exceptional DVD set is the perfect entertainment and educational tool designed to teach and help kids with their reading (ages 4-10). If you are a parent or know of a child in this age group who enjoys top notch storytelling, then I highly recommend you pick up this wonderful item.

There are a total of 16 children’s stories contained in this 3-disc set. The first disc features six charming tales which serve as bedtime stories. They are Good Night, Gorilla, The Napping House, Happy Birthday, Moon and The Rainbabies. There are also two bonus stories, Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin and Elizabeti’s Doll.

The second disc features four silly tales which have a dinosaur or monster theme. They are Danny and the Dinosaur, T is for Terrible, The Island of the Skog, and Stanley and the Dinosaurs.

The last disc contains four very cute stories containing animals that do strange things. These stories are The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash, First the Egg, Doctor De Soto, What Do I Do With a Tail Like This?, Flossie and the Fox and finally, Joey Runs Away.

Scholastic sure knows what kids want. This great collection of children stories is the perfect way to entertain and teach kids how to read. The stories are beautifully written and illustrated (see The Rainbabies) and the messages are positive and easily digestible. There is even a great amount of humor appropriate for children and even adults not to mention lovely songs (see Stanley and the Dinosaurs). Good Night, Gorilla may be primarily for kids but it is sure to entertain everyone.
